ABOUT
- Closely related to Ojibwe and Odawa.
- Form larger group of Anishinaabe with Ojibe and Odawa.
- Live in communities that follow the male line of descent.
- Egalitarian: Leadership provided by respected elders and heads of clans.
- Clans represented by animal totems such as: Wolf, Loon, Crane, Bear, etc.
- Intermarriage within any clan is not permitted even when parties are from different communities.
- Relationships with most other Indigenous groups were positive.
- Haudenosaunee in some areas to be the exception.

REGION
The Algonquin are Indigenous peoples that occupy around the Ottawa River and its tributaries within Ontario and Western Quebec.
This mass of land contains:
- fresh water: fishing, consumption, cooking etc.
- game for hunting: clothing, food
- trees: shelter, fire
- plants: food, medicine
